The area of design
As part of most creative processes there is usually quite a distinct progression dealing with design.
No matter what it is that you are into making, the aspect of design is a highly important one.
In some cases design does not have to be fully functional and focus can be given to the artistic expression and communication of what the end piece will be. Of course this can be something functional, like knitting a sweater or making a chair out of wood, and you may have some sort of blue print that you follow through your project.
Depending on the size of your project, it’s always a good idea to plan work well and ensure that if there is a dead line to be met, that plenty of times is left for errors and changes to occur. Regardless if you are making something functional or not, the team here agrees that nothing should be done without giving thought to the design, and we also believe that if we have the ability to make things beautiful, and want to do so, the we should endeavour to do so.
If the area that you are crafting and making things in is new to you, it’s also good to keep in mind that there is a process of learning, and as it is with most skills worth learning, things don’t happen fast, and some management of expectations may be advised to engage with.
Giving thought to your design is something which should never turn into a negative if it doesn’t have to, here you have the room to play and give yourself freedom of artistic, practical or other, expression. And making use of your own creativity is something that the team here possibly sees as the most important thing.
